NOTICE OF RACE
1) RULES:
The regatta will be governed
by:
1.1
The rules as defined in the
Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2
The following prescriptions of the national authority will apply and
will be stated in full in the sailing instructions: 61.4, 68, 76.1, & 76.3.
1.3
RRS 62.1 is modified to add: 62.1(e) failure of chartered
equipment.
1.4
Sunfish Class rules apply except as modified by the Supplied Equipment
(item 14) and Charter Agreement in Addendum 1
2) ADVERTISING:
Advertising will be restricted to Category A.
3) ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY:
3.1 Entrants
will be limited to sailors qualified per 2006/2007 ISCA & USSCA Notices
found in the 2007 Regatta Schedule.
3.2 Entries will be limited to 100 competitors. Eligible entrants
will receive an invitation by mail which must be responded to by the date
specified in the invitation. Invited entrants who wish to accept the
invitation must fill out the Entry Form in Addendum 2 and send it to the Class
Office along with a non-refundable
US$ 250 charter fee plus the US$250 registration fee by the date specified in
the invitation for a total of $500.
Every eligible entrant may use a check or credit
card to pay their non-refundable boat charter fee and registration fee. Checks should be made payable to
"ISCA" and must be drawn on a
International
Sunfish Class Association
3.3 Fully
paid entries will be accepted in the order they are received. If 100
entries have not been received by June 15, 2007 (60 day cutoff date for World
deposits) any unfilled boat spots shall be filled by a fair choice from a pool
of international wild card sailors who have applied through their NSCA.
3.4 If
there are any available Worlds boats at the event site, the boats may be filled
by the host country from their NSCA members who have paid their dues by the
cutoff date for Worlds deposits.
3.5 A
refundable deposit of US$150 will be required at check-in and subject to the
provisions of NOR #13 and Addendum 1.
4) CLASSIFICATION:
The ISAF Sailor Classification Code will not apply.

6) SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sailing Instructions will be available at
registration.
7) COURSES:
Courses will be Windward-Leeward or Olympic and will
be available along with the Sailing Instructions at the check in at the Brant
Beach Yacht Club. All races will
take place in the Little Egg Harbor Bay.
8) PENALITY SYSTEM:
Appendix
P will be used
9) SCORING:
A total of 12 races are planned, of which 3 will
constitute a regatta. if six races are completed there will be one(1) throw out and (2) two
after the completion of twelve.
10) RADIO COMMUNICATION:
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing
nor receive radio communications unavailable to all boats. This restriction
also applies to mobile telephone.
11) PRIZES:
Trophies will be awarded
to the first 10 finishers, the first junior, the first woman, the first senior
(18+), the first master (40+), and the first grand master (55+). In addition
awards will be made to the youngest sailor and to a sailor for exceptional
sportsmanship.
12) DISCLAMER OF LIABILITY:
Competitors participate in the
regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race.
The organizing authority will not accept any liability for
material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with,
prior to, during, or after the regatta.
13) CHARTER BOATS:
Charter boats will be available to competitors for
rigging and practice sailing upon completing registration. Returning and having
boat inspected, boxed, and loaded into the trucks will be the responsibility of
the competitor. It is also the responsibility of the competitor to identify any
damage or problems with the boat upon return. Failure to comply may result in
forfeiture of damage deposit. See addendum 1- Charter Agreement
14) EQUIPMENT:
Vanguard will provide the following equipment with the
intent that a competitor may come to the event and be able to sail a race ready
Sunfish.

v Outhaul Cleat located starboard side
of lower spar at 64” (from the front of cleat to where the front end cap
meets the spar.)
v 23’ of 3mm spectra line for
the outhaul.
v Cunningham cleat located on bottom of
lower spar at 41” (from the front of the cleat to where front the end cap
meets the spar.)
v 11’ of 3mm spectra line for the cunningham
v 32’ of 7mm Mainsheet and a 019
Harken ratchet
v 25’ of 5mm spectra core
for the halyard
v Manufacturer supplied padded
hiking strap with polyester line attachment
v 32 sail ties 11”x 2mm spectra
and sail clips (optional use)

Competitor may provide the following personal effects:

no holes and consistent with Charter Agreement

per class rules
v Compass and/or stopwatch secured
with tape provided in accordance with Charter Agreement
v Taping spars or tiller for
securing fittings or halyard
Competitors will be allowed to use Teflon or
McLube spray only on spars, sail ties and sail controls.
Other actions: Use of anything (e.g. Teflon tape, Velcro) in the
centerboard trunk or mast step; application sealants or anything other than
soap on the hull or blades is not allowed.
15)
LODGING: Brant Beach is located on a barrier island and is a popular resort in
August. Therefore it is imperative to make housing reservations early, before
April to be safe. There are several options:

Manahawkin, 7 miles from the Yacht Club off the Island
Fifty rooms are reserved for competitors until July
15, 2007 at the rate of $179 + tax.
Since rooms are limited early reservations are recommended. Use the
Holiday Inn 800 number or go to their reservation web site. In either case

The cost of chartered equipment determined to be damaged or
missing at the time of boat return will be deducted from the damage deposit of all
competitors’ assigned to the boat during the regatta unless otherwise
caused and reported by an individual.
Competitors are responsible for reporting any damage of chartered
equipment to the Vanguard Representative at the first reasonable time upon coming
ashore or when initially becoming aware of an equipment problem.
1. No changes, additions, or
alterations to the spars, sail, hull and fittings shall be made except as
explained herein and in the preceding pages of the Notice of Race.
2. A compass, wind
indicator and sail tell tales supplied by the competitor may be used provided
that they can be fitted without piercing or otherwise marking the hull, spars
or sail.
3. Wet or dry
sanding of the hulls or any other equipment is prohibited.
4. The use of waxes,
polishing compounds or similar is prohibited. Competitors may wash their boat with
detergent and water.
5. Plastic tape
or similar may be used in accordance with the Class Rules.
6. No fitting
(including ratchet eye strap) may be removed or temporarily unfastened, even if
it is subsequently replaced, and no repairs may by undertaken without the
permission of the Vanguard Representative.
Note: All the fittings are sealed with silicon during manufacture. One
allowable exception is the temporary replacement of the tiller extension base
plate fitting provided no additional holes are created in the tiller and the
tiller assembly is returned as provided.
7. The use of the
charter boat may be withdrawn if, in the sole opinion of the Vanguard
Representative, a competitor breaks any of the conditions of charter or treats
or handles a charter boat without due care or in a manner which causes or is
likely to cause damage to the boat.
8. Any competitor found towing at more
than 5kts will be charged $500 and have the equipment withdrawn immediately.
9. Any competitor who
does not complete check in, inspection, boxing and loading of trucks may be
charged $150 subject to the Vanguard representative’s discretion.
