                                                                                   2005

On January 29th the Upper Keys Sailing Club conducted the Holiday Isle Sunfish Championships with challenging east winds blowing at about 15 knots. The winds generated a few capsizes and exciting downwind legs. UKSC members participating as part of the race committee included:

Sharon Berry-Shoreside Support/Registration

Paco Calvet-Race Committee

Joe Richart-

Bob Sandifer-

Dave and Rosalyn Stevens-Chase Boat

Yolanda Trump-Scoring

The chase boat was kept busy attending boats that were vertically challenged, bottomsides and dagger boards up and masts down! Dave and Rosalyn did a great job assisting sailors in need.

Three races were held for the 17 boats registered and the results in the three divisions were:

Top Three Boats

1.       Brian Wolfschn, Southwest Ranches, FL

2.       Charlie Rahn, Plantation, FL

3.       Chris Gates, Indialantic, FL

40 Something Sailors

1.       Danny Escobar, Ft Lauderdale, FL

2.       Jack Scragg, Ft Myers, FL

3.       John Kremski, Ft Myers, FL

Notable Survivors

2.        John Fletcher, Loxahatchee, FL

3.        David Silverman, Indian Harbor Beach, FL (youngest sailor-44 yrs.)

The race committee extended special recognition to Ft Myers sailor Sharon Del Bianco, the lone female sailor to complete all three races under very challenging conditions.
