By John Kremski
Sunday saw seven sailors,
including first time sunfish racer Allie Grey, turn out for an interesting race
day. Race Committee Sharon Del Bianco and John Kremski quickly gave up trying to get the line square - the
wind was so shifty it was impossible!! In race five, the initial leg
included a beat, a reach and a run, all on the same heading!! Forty Five
to Ninety degree shifts were the norm all afternoon, with moderate winds.
The racing was very close, at the end of the fifth race there was a three way
tie for first place, with John Hyatt, Pat Hamilton, and Phil MeWhinney all with 11 points. For the final, tie
breaker race Aline Hyatt took first place, with Pat
Hamilton cinching a second to win the day overall, Second overall Phil MeWhinney and Third overall John Hyatt. Complete
results below.
After the sailors got back
on the beach, everyone enjoyed some post race dogs and burgers in the Gazebo,
trading war stories until about five o'clock or so.
