Paracas, Peru – Sailing on his country’s home waters, Luis Olcese of Peru captured the 2010 South American Championship. Entering the final race of the 9 race series, Olcese and fellow countrymen Alexander Zimmerman had clinched the regatta’s top two spots. Olcese won the final race to clinch the title. Zimmeriman finished second and Matheus Dallagnelo of Brazil was third.
This regatta was a country qualifier for the 2011 Pan Am Games in Mexico. By virtue of their overall finishes in this event Peru (1st), Brazil (3rd) and Chile (5th) have earned the right to send a sailor to the Pan Am Games to represent their countries.
