One method of preventing the Hiking Strap from being cut on the stainless strip that secures it to the front wall of the cockpit:

I had a piece of rope sewn into the loop and then covered with leather too. Now, instead of the webbing going over and around the strap. The strap secures the hiking strap to the cotpit wall via pressure. I even bolted mine too just for piece of mind. This should prevent the hiking strap from being cut by the strap. - Tom Whitehurst
