The West Region Sunfish sailors are invited to the Benefit Regatta for the UC Davis Sailing Team at Lake Washington, near Sacramento, California on October 1, 2011.
Registration starts at noon, and the event is free and open to all. Notice of Race can be found below.
This year’s West Region Regatta was hosted in San Diego by the Mission Bay Sunfish Fleet No. 632. We had a good showing of nine boats with an exciting line-up of six races over a two-day period in August. The weather was mostly sunny with good wind. The sailors enjoyed a quick lunch during the first day of sailing and a light dinner with awards ceremony on the final day. The top three finishers received beautiful brass medal trophies engraved with a Sunfish logo. A big thank you goes to the Mission Bay Sunfish Fleet No. 632 for organizing a fabulous event and making us all feel welcome. Congratulations to the winners and I hope to see you all again next year!

The Mission Bay Sunfish Fleet # 632 will be hosting a Sunfish Clinic on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11:00 A.M.
If you are in San Diego during that time, please feel free to stop by to brush up on your sailing skills. During the clinic, I will cover Sunfish rigging, race set-up, racing rules, and tips for a successful sailing season. This year’s One Design Regatta was hosted, as usual, in San Diego by the Mission Bay Yacht Club. We had a good showing of nine boats with an exciting line-up of six races over a two-day period in August. The weather was sunny with steady wind, if not quite strong at times for the regular conditions at Mission Bay. Fortunately, most of us held ground. The sailors enjoyed a quick lunch during the first day of sailing and a dinner with awards ceremony on the final day. A big thank you goes to the MBYC and the Mission Bay Sunfish Fleet No. 632 for organizing the event and making us feel welcome. Congratulations to the winners!

Accommodations and Other Information
The 2010 Western Regional Championship Regatta was hosted by the Gold Country Yacht Club at the Scotts Flat Lake In Nevada City, California on June 5th and 6th, with three races during the first day and two races on the second day of sailing. The wind was very shifty on Saturday, but improved and became more steady on Sunday once the sun came out. We enjoyed a nice dinner the first evening and closed the event with the awards ceremony on Sunday. I would like to thank Bob Cronin, Roy Jordan, David Candey, Mark Sabin, and Stan Jones from the USSCA West Region and Lorenzo Rojas from Colombia for coming to the event. I have enjoyed sailing with all of you and hope to see you again soon!
