Congratulations to the eleven brave (or demented) sailors who came out to sail,
especially to those who made the drive from out of town! As you can see,
we did not get as many races in as usual, and had a lot of attrition toward the
end. This was due to the wind - 20+ knots - and the temperature -
COLD! The only major casualty was Jack Scraggs, who demasted his
boat. We had a discussion about the corrosion holes in this mast while
rigging up on the beach, and decided it was fine - oh, well, can't get them all
right. I am glad he got to thoroughly test out his new wetsuit, anyway.
Thanks to the Alexander family, who did superb committee boat work - that big
trawler looked pretty comfortable to the racers - and especially to Ross Webb
who served up a fantastic steak dinner to everyone afterwards! Everyone
really enjoyed the post race party with that kind of food.
