15th Annual Harkers Island Regatta Draws 51 Sunfish For Three-day Sailing Event
And…they’re off! Not the boats, the crabs! The crowd cajoled and hooted around a ten-foot circle, each hoping their chosen crab would cross the finish line first. Thus began the racing on a historic island off the coast of central North Carolina.
There's just one week to go until the 53rd annual Wequaquet Lake Yacht Club Annual Regatta/Sunfish Regional. This year includes a free clinic on Friday by former North American Champ Bill Brangiforte, lots of great Cape Cod lake racing, and good food/fun ashore!
Four-time winner Dan Norton of Hudson, Michigan, had an injury preventing his coming to defend, so the Sunfish sailors assembled to determine a new champion. While the air temperatures were a little cool, enthusiasm was hot to get out racing and have some fun.
On Tuesday June 28th The Double Handed Fungatta kicked off the Official Summer Regatta Season at WPSA. At one point we had 13 boats with 28 different sailors on the waters directly off the bulkhead at Wet Pants.
