2017 Tim Dowling Memorial Regatta Recap

Posted September 25, 2017

The 2017 Tim Dowling Memorial Regatta at Clark Lake Yacht Club, Clarklake, Michigan, was held September 22-23, 2017.  Sailed in two days of light winds and record heat, 92 degrees both days, this one will remain legendary.  A multiclass regatta, there were Sunfish, Rebels, Wayfarers and Buccaneers.  Congratulations to Mark Kastel who took straight bullets.  He had to fight off Jim Richter who had the lead in every race and was caught on the reaches, then Mark held on during the beat back to the finish.  Richard O’Boyle, in his second regatta, was third.  This regatta is low-cost, well run, offers free camping and housing, good meals, and lots of space to handle lots of boats!  Put it on your 2018 calendar.
