Brangiforte opens season with two wins, Barrington Regional next up

Posted June 05, 2017

The early part of the 2017 New England Sunfish racing season featured two lake events that Bill Brangiforte handled with somewhat ease.

On May 21 at Bolton Lake Ct., Brangiforte topped an 18-boat fleet in wind conditions that ranged from very light to virtually non-existant. Scores have not yet been posted, but check out this cool drone video of the final race to get a sense of just how light it got at times! Video on Facebook

Mike Catalano and the BYC crew did a great job running the races, despite the fickle conditions.

On June 3, 13 Sunfish competed at Lake Massapoag in Sharon Ma. Brangiforte easily topped the fleet with 7 points, followed by Scott Greenbaum with 13 points, Andy David with 14 and John Eckart with 15 points. Conditions were great, albeit cool. A 8-12 knot breeze, mostly from the northwest, provided fair and fun racing.

As always, the MSC were great hosts! Full results here:

Don't forget the first Regional Championship of 2017 is June 10-11 at Barrington (RI) Yacht Club. Registration was $75, but that went up to $100 on June 3 and will go up to $125 if you register the day of the event. You can (and should) register early online here:
