26 years after winning the Sunfish North Americans, Illinois' Bob Findlay is the US Masters champion.

Greg Gust of Texas is the 2014 International Masters Championship

The Pensacola Yacht Club in the Florida Panhandle will host both the Sunfish International Masters and Sunfish Midwinter Championships (with a day of team racing in between) the week of March 23-29, 2014

Doug Kaukeinen of Rochester NY won the 2013 US Masters Championship on home waters.

Congratulations to Greg Gust for winning the International Masters regatta at Davis Island YC.

The 2013 Sunfish International Masters is a three day event for any Sunfish sailors who are 40 or older. It is an international event so sailors from all over the world are welcome to sail, meet old friends and enjoy the TampaBay area. The event is followed by the Sunfish Mid-Winters in Sarasota, Florida the following weekend so it is a good warm up regatta that allows a few days to recover before doing it all over again.

Twenty five sailors, after waiting for the sea breeze on both days, completed nine of eleven races scheduled. Greg Gust (Rush Creek) whistled (according to the PRO) his way to victory with six bullets. Tom Whitehurst (Pensacola Beach) and Hank Saurage (Pelican) finished seven and twelve points behind, respectively.

Bill Brangiforte continued his dominant form in route to capturing Sunfish International Masters Championship. Brangiforte, the 2010 Sunfish North American Champion, competes all winter as a member of the Barrington Yacht Club Frostbite fleet in Rhode Island.

It appears that all those Sunday afternoons, freezing our butts off, on the Warren River, is really paying off. Eric Woodman and I just returned from the Sunfish International Masters in Florida, where we finished first and second.
