May 2025
Greetings Sailors!
Last month kicked off the Regional Championship Regattas of the year, there are four more before the North American’s at Fairhope June 11-14. Mobile Bay is a lovely venue with good afternoon sea breezes while Fairhope is a beautiful town where Jimmy Buffet spent part of his childhood! I hope to see many of you there enjoying time on the water and catching up with friends.
The USSCA annual meeting will be at the North American’s on Friday, June 13 at 9:00 AM. We will report out the activities of the board and will announce the results of the election for the new board. Nominations for the election open 30 days before the USSCA Annual Meeting on May 13th and close on May 30th. Electronic ballots will be distributed to members the next day on May 31st and will be accepted electronically until 12:01 am (EST) of the day of the annual meeting. You may vote in person at the meeting if you miss the on-line voting. Please contact Hank Saurage at nominations.coordinator@sunfishclass.org if you would like to discuss nominations.
Last month I outlined the Strategy the board has adopted to Create Value for Members of USSCA. Education figured high in the strategy with a commitment to providing resources for members to grow their abilities. I’m pleased to announce the first offering is a seminar by Dave Perry on Tactics in Crowds and What’s New in the Racing Rules 2025 – 2028. The webinar is free to members of USSCA. It will be June 3rd at 8PM EST just in time to gain some knowledge prior to the North Americans. A flyer from Dave is below or CLICK HERE. Please note you must be a current member of USSCA to attend this webinar. If you need to renew your membership you can do so here – CLICK HERE.
The link to sign up for the webinar is also available under the Members Only Tab at sunfishclass.org. The recording for the webinar will be available there if you are unable to attend on June 3rd. In addition to the webinar recording the members only tab also has the on-line member directory and instructions on how to access your on-line membership card that can be added to your wallet. We will be adding more content as the year progresses.
This year we are also sending out membership stickers for members of USSCA to proudly display. Keep an eye on your mail for these.
