2024 TRYC Sunfish Tune Up Regatta
SATURDAY June 1, 2024
ORGANIZATION, RULES & VENUE:
The regatta is organized by the Toms River Yacht Club and will be sailed in front of the Club on the Toms River. It will be sailed under the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing, the Prescriptions of US Sailing including Appendix V and the Sunfish Class Rules. While on the water, each competitor is required to wear a USCG-approved personal Floatation Device, except for brief periods while adding or removing clothing.
ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY:
The regatta is open to all boats of the Sunfish Class. Registration is available online only and can be found at Regatta Network: https://www.regatanetwork.com/event/27846. Registration fee is $35.00.
Registration closes at 1159 hours on May 31, 2024. There will be no onsite registration.
This Regatta is to be followed the next day by a separate event on Sunday, June 2, 2024, a Point-to-Point Race from Toms River YC-to-Lavallette YC. Please see an additional NOR on Regatta Network.
FORMAT/RACING:
The low point scoring system, RRS Appendix A will be used.
Five (5) Races planned with 1 throw-out if all five are sailed. One race shall constitute a regatta.
Courses to be sailed will be windward-leeward, triangles or a combination thereof and may include an offset mark or gate as described in the Sailing Instructions.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Sailing Instructions will be available at check-in.
PROGRAM/TIME:
Check In: 8:30 – 9:45 am
Skippers Meeting: 10:00 am
First Warning: 11:00 am (estimated earliest time)
No warning signal will be made after 3:30 pm.
SOCIAL:
Bagels, Fruit, Coffee, and Juice. Lunch and beverages after the racing.
SAFETY & LIABILITY
It is the responsibility solely of the participant if they should sail in the weather and sea conditions that might arise during the event. Proper safety equipment is required. Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization of official) will not be responsible for damage
to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained because of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor agrees to release the race organizers from all liability associated with such competitor's participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
INSURANCE:
The Organizing Authority recommends that each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.
MEASUREMENT: All sailors are responsible for their boats complying with Class Rules.

First, Second and Third overall and Top Junior.
